Congratulations! To access data, you will need to register for the Kids First Data Resource Portal, connect your account to Gen3 with your eRA commons credentials, and also configure a Cavatica connection.

1. Register for the Kids First Portal using a Google or ORCiD Account.

2. Connect your portal account with your eRA Commons account under My Profile → Settings → Gen3 Integrations.

3. Once your connection is successful, you should be able to see a purple “View studies” button. Clicking on that will show you the data sets for which you have been approved.

4. From this list of approved data sets, you can click "View data files" to load these in the File Repository. You can also load the files you have approved access for from the Dashboard, under Authorized Studies. You can also build a cohort of participants using the Explore Data tool.

Within the File Repository, you can filter the data set down further by File Format or Sequencing Experiment under the File Filters tab along the left hand side as this query includes all RNA and WGS. You may need to select “Columns” from the upper right area of the table to add in the External Sample ID and the External Participant ID to see additional data associated with the file.

5. When you have selected the files you are interested in working with, the easiest way to access this data is by sending it to Cavatica. Directions for creating an account, linking it with your eRA permissions, are included on the Cavatica Cloud Platform page.
